Oh my goodness, you have no idea how excited I am right now that your checking this section out of my website.. if you haven't realised already.. I LOVE BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY. I'm doing a happy dance right now just over the fact that your thinking of having your birth photographed.
Birth is Unique, Powerful, Empowering, and Raw.
Birth is a story that I believe should be told and documented.
Births are where my passion lies and I feel super humbled and privileged that parents allow me to be apart of such a raw and beautiful moment. I remember as a student nurse, I was always intrigued by birth and always wanted to see exactly what went on behind those closed doors on Maternity Wards. On my last placement as a student, I eagerly asked my preceptor if it would be possible to witness a birth, to my surprise, on the last day of my placement I was fortunate enough to witness my first C-Section. I was absolutely blown away, I couldn't believe how incredible our bodies actually were and instantly had so much appreciation for my mum who'd had an emergency c-section when I entered the world. The other special moment on that day was the parents had asked me to take pictures of the whole birth on their phone. I was soooo excited and from that moment on I thought, how cool, like what beautiful images to have and look back on. I feel like maybe a seed was planted that day, deep inside of me. I never thought back then that I would be actually taking photos for expecting parents and own my own business.
These sessions are full of raw emotion, connection and the amazing power of women. It is an amazing way to hold onto all the moments that can be forgotten overtime. Most mothers don't even realise I'm in the room. I can be quiet as a mouse but I'm also a support person if you need. I don't want to just be a girl who stands in the corner with her camera. I want to be there, supporting you through your journey to motherhood.
Before your session, I love to have a meet & greet with you and your partner. This usually consists of a couple of coffees, discussing life, going over your birth plan and discussing the logistics of the whole entire session. From the moment you're 36 weeks pregnant, I'm all yours, completely and utterly yours. I'm on call for YOU, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The moment your in labour, I'll be there. I want to be able to document your birth from beginning to end, Once bub arrives earth-side, I will stay for up to 2 hours to document all those first special moments.
